In addition to the tower, the Roman ampitheatre, site of many a gladiatorial bout is found in Nimes and is currently the Languedoc-Roussillon's largest concert venue. The scene of some of the early bull-fights in the nineteenth century, the ampitheatre's design was influenced by the Coliseum in Rome.

Not too far from Perpignan in Loupian, Herault, you can enjoy authentic Roman mosaics. Now a museum, but once the Pre Bas Roman Villa, the impressive collection of colourful mosaics covers a whole square kilometre and has to be seen to be believed.

Languedoc-Roussillon
