Surrounded by old cobbled streets, the Cathedral is fashioned in the style of Gothic architecture. This stunning Romanesque structure dates back to the tenth century. Expect to be blown away by tapestries that date back to the fifteenth century as well as Renaissance craftsmanship at many a turn. Look out for the stained glass window of Beauvais artist Engrand Le Prince which stands out as the most stunning of all the pieces. The astronomical clock is a copy of the one at Strasbourg and contains over 90,000 parts.

Near to the cathedral amid the Place de l�Hotel de Ville, is the statue of 16th century heroine and saviour of Beauvais, Jeanne Hachette. Additionally, while here, you might want to pay your respects to some twelfth century houses.


Amiens

Within a short drive of Beauvais is the compact but vibrant university town of Amiens. The capital of Picardy, Amiens offers a delightfully restored medieval riverbank district and an incredible cathedral that dwarfs the Cathedral Notre Dame in Paris. The Santiago de Compostela has been bestowed the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site twice and is understandably a significant tourist attraction in the town.

The airport is approximately 80 kilometres from the city of Paris.

The Paris/Beauvais shuttle runs in line with Ryanair arrivals and leaves the airport approximately 20 minutes after arrival. The journey from the airport costs 13 euros one way (tickets are bought from the bus ticket sale point outside the airport) and reaches its destination of Porte Maillot in Paris within an hour and a half.

If travelling by train, the journey by regional express train (TER) from the Gare du Nord takes approximately 1 hour and ten minutes. Upon arrival at Beauvais Station, a taxi to the airport will cost 11 euros. Add another fifteen minutes on for the taxi ride to Beauvais Airport.
